Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1) I want to play, how do I join?
Sign up to Meetup (app or website) and join our group on there 'Futsal Tokyo'. Our full schedule is there and you can RSVP to a game you like: www.meetup.com/Futsal-Tokyo/ (5-a-side)
2) Do I need to speak English (or Japanese)?
There are no language requirements other than very simple English (numbers and colours). Our events are held in English and all of our organisers speak at least basic Japanese. The majority of players can talk in English and many speak Japanese too. On the field, all you need is the language of football/futsal.
3) Do you provide student discount or any other discounts?
We don't provide any student discounts, though many university students join us. We occasionally provide discounts for teams. In any case, drop us a message on the Meetup.
4) Do you run anything other than futsal?
We have community-run events: 11-a-side football, volleyball, table tennis and basketball. We also hold socials, hikes, bouldering, picnics and camps! Join our Meetup pick-up games regularly to find out more.
5) How can I join the Futsal Tokyo Meetup team?
Whilst we join tournaments and have a large core of players, we don't have a fixed team nor training. Regulars of the meetup are welcome to join us when we do have 11-a-side matches.
We're more like a pick-up community and league with many sub-communities and individuals within it. We have many teams in our community and have links to football teams in the TML (Tokyo Metropolitan League) if you're level is high enough.
6) I have a team, can we have a match?
Absolutely! We play friendlies, and can make a team to match your level and match format. Message us on Meetup, Instagram or Facebook with your location, team level, match format (5-a-side, 11-a-side, etc.) and we'll try work our a date and time. We can even book a field if possible.
